I feel sad for today's kids because the dong experience music through speakers. It's ear buds. Listening to Robert Lamn bang out the chords to Critics Choice on a nice set of JBL speakers, well there's nothing like it, unless it's listening to the harmonica and Ceteras vocal on In Terms Of Two.. Chicago has always been my favorite band. One of the best performances i ever saw them give was on Dick Clarke 1975 Rockin New Years Eve show when Pete and Terry did a version of dialogue that will never be matched. You can still see the video of it on you tube. Just a great band.

I've written long worded reviews, but I feel there just a few ill need to use for this one.. "Jenny" "Critics Choice" "Just You and Me"... Jenny now being one of my all time top fav Chicago songs.. I never was able to find this album during the later end of the CD era.. Thank the devil for the Internet.. Thank Chicago for this album, buy it, support them.. Amen
  • My Favorite Chicago CD

This was the first Chicago album I owned back in the 70s, and it has always been my favorite. Just You and Me and Feeling Stronger Every Day are the hits, and are great, but I also really like Critics Choice, Something in This City Changes People and In Terms of Two. In my opinion, Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago V, VI, VII, VIII and X represent the best of Chicago, although they clearly have some good songs on other CDs. The song Tired of Being Alone on Chicago VI was not on the original album, but fans of Al Green will love him singing with Chicago accompaniment, and I think the song, even with its cheesy rehearsal setup which apparently was from a television special, is a nice addition. This is a great band at its best and a great CD.

Good album and deserves a place in the Chicago lore...loved the cover especially with the band at the top, very cool...don't just listen to the hits...the gems are always imbedded deeper than that and it's the reason i tend to buy complete albums and not just songs of my favorite artists...
  • Trying to avoid a "leftover Chicago 5" feel

buy this album if you love 70' s Chicago....Just You n' Me is a great Jimmy Pankow track, I also think "Hollywood" by Robert Lamm is a quintessential Chicago band track, it really showcases the chops these guys did have. "Something In this city changes People" has some nice flute work by Walter Parazaider, and "In terms of two" shows Chicago venturing into a country sound that is more than passable, with nice (guest) harmonica playing and a catchy hook to boot. I would say Chicago 5 rocks harder, this album has a couple of standout tracks, a lot of good tracks, and is an attempt by the boys to avoid turning out a "leftover Chicago 5 " album. I believe they recorded this album at Caribou Ranch in Colorado, and it has a more varied feel to it than most other Chicago albums. Example: There are 4 tracks on this album that have no horns at all on them. One track features the woodwind player only . One track is just Robert Lamm and his piano.

I used to crank this on mom's cabinet stereo system. This was the first Chicago album I owned. It only led to a bad habit of collecting them all.....that is up to the 80s junk. There is not a bad song on this whole album.
