The movie itself was just "eh", but the score is great. I originally only downloaded 2 songs, but after one day, I went back and downloaded the entire album.

I never saw this movie, and I generally do not care for the music of Philip Glass. That being said, this is one of the most surprising and amazing pieces of music I have heard in several years. There is a beautiful melancholy throughout the album. I highly recommend it for studying or just staring out a window, relaxing, on a cloudy day.

Phillip Glass is a fantastic Minimalist composer. His work with the hours reaches into the basic relationship between humans and music. The hours is like an Glassworks turned epic.

I view this album as essential to my music collection. It's great to study to, or relax, although it's a bit morbid. All of the friends I've recommended it to have fallen in love with it. It's got the highest play count of all because I listen to it so often. This score is amazing.
  • Best Soundtrack Ever

I listen to this album daily if not every "hour" in. The music is as much beautiful as the movie was This morbid, very sensual pieces of art, made the musical theme of my life. I can't say anymore to complement it. However in this issue with this soundtrack is that some tracks that were played during in the movie is not featured in the album. "Morning Passages", which in my opinion the 2nd if not the 1st best track in this score, were unjustifly cut from the middle and we got the left overs which really left me very very very disappointed.

It's a good score, but it misses the mark for me. I may be harsh on scores, but the one's that fail for me are the one's that don't evoke emotion in me, and that's the selling point. If I can feel the artists work, then that composer has done his/her job. This is one of those in between scores, that can have an emotion to it, but not the emotion one's looking for. Buy it, but you've been warned. Don't get too close to it.

The music is awesome, I will see the movie and buy the sound tract. As a rule, I will only like one, never more than two songs, but love everyone. All my girl friends will get a cd for their birthday this year 2008 Budgie40

This soundtrack is more than that, it is a score. It is the score to one of the most beautiful movies, and books, ever written. The score captures the essence of the film and of the book and unites the three different times beautifully. Glass is AMAZING and deserves to be honored!!!
