  • Genius

Philip Glass' music is genius. The repetition and cycle of his composition mirrors the true nature of our world, bringing about a meditative state. His music is apart of the evolution of consciousness. No wonder he has written operas of such universal and historical figures which resonate deeply in the psyche. Satyagraha is the greatest modern opera ever written. The key to our evolving history has always and will always be vibrational, and Glass' compositions prove he is highly evolved.

Rip Starbuck. Great song to remember the universe's greatest cylon fighter pilot.

What can I say? This music is amazing. I know it is difficult for many to understand; hell, I'm not incredibly knowledgeable about the music world, so perhaps I don't fully understand it either. Even so, this music is so emotional and beautiful, I can't stay away from it. Also, if any of you have read the book "Metamorphosis" by Kafka (great book, by the way. You should read it if you haven't), Glass's Metamorphosis was supposed to be the soundtrack to an attempted movie of the book which never came out. This music makes me really understand the book, and the book really helps me understand the music. Anyhow, I'm trying not to rant (it's difficult to contain my excitement about this album). I use this music a lot for doing homework and studying; while I know it deserves a lot more respect than that, it puts me into a repetitive and almost trancelike mindset. It's really very soothing and helps me concentrate. I hope this helps?
  • Really really bright piano

It's called minimalism, guys, and it's not for everyone. Doesn't make it not good. I love Glass, but hate this recording. The piano is so bright it almost hurts my ears.
  • Not my favorite... at all.

I read the positive reviews, listened to the samples and purchased. I regret pushing the button... I wish for a refund. Maybe I don't "get" it, the songs are similar and go on and on and on.
  • Astounding

I am a music major in college, in my junior year...I am constantly astounded by Philip glass' compositions and performances. I had done some research when I was younger and discovered koyaanisqatsi trilogy. Which is, the most fascinating movie I have ever watched. Each track on this album is so intriguing. Even though glass uses the same thematic material in many of his songs, he is still able to depict a beautiful picture and hold great suspense. This album is superb.
  • A little repetitive but in a good way.

If you’re looking for something a little dark or sad this may be what you’re looking for. Just be warned the song is based on repetition, somewhere in the middle he speeds it up a bit and then back to the “reps.” A good song if you just want to stare out the window and watch “it” all go by.
  • I can listen to this over and over

I actually often do. While this is obviously a Glass work, it seems more nuanced than some of his more repetitive pieces and is a haunting and beautiful collection. I am a Philip Glass fan but only discovered this from (of all places) Battlestar Galactica.
  • Simplicity at its best.

I love the way this album takes you to a place of extreme peace and tranquility. If you like this you might also want to check out Elijah Bossenbroek

Pearl Jam fans will recognize Metamorphosis 2 as their intro music before they take the stage at their shows. Metamorphosis 2 is awesome and has been stuck in my head since I first heard it at a PJ show. So glad I finally found it. The whole CD is really beautiful.
