  • One of Phil's Best Acoustic Projects in Years

This is different! Fresh. The melodies and ideas seem so right and unencumbered, even when he references an earlier work, such as Addison's Talk. The tones of the guitar are transparent and live, in a way that I haven't heard since Beyond Nature, or even Master and Musician. And the quality of recording seemed more transparent and luminous as well. Curious, I dug around in Google and find that this is an album commissioned to demonstrate McPherson guitars. Perhaps it's the guitars or studio, but the sound is sweet and vibrant at the same time. And this whole album seems more thought out and crafted. One of his best!

Keaggy has put out a lot of instrumental albums in the past few years, much of which has been acoustic guitar. This release rates with some of his best acoustic work. There is a taste of years gone by here, especially the tracks Water Day, a reworking of his classic What a Day, and A Sense of Time, which echoes songs from his What a Day, Emerging, Ph'lip Side, Town to Town, Play Thru Me days, with hints of Glass Harp. The stand out track for me is Wow's the Weather, but there is a wealth of great songs here, more fully fleshed out than some of the Acoustic Sketches albums. Not quite as good as Beyond Nature, but well worth your time and money!
  • Keaggy at his acoustic best.

Reminds me of a combination of the acoustic tracks from The Wind and the Wheat as well as Beyond Nature. Phil does a fantastic job of reminiscing several of his past songs and creating something entirely new (e.g., Water Day & A Sense of Time). Definitely a new favorite in my collection.
