When I was a kid I was fascinated by the song "What are you doing the rest of your life?" This is such a perfectly written song, it's about sharing life and the melody is kinda mysterious the lyrics are beautiful. Her voice sounds like clear crystal at times.. and soulful. Don't miss it.

This lp started out as a concept album telling a story about a female performer who yearns for love then finds it and a happy ending ensues. That project put aside, this album contains the finished songs for that intended project, "Can You Tell The Moment" and "Between Yesterday And Tomorrow" were the songs canned from this lp and released some years later on Barbra's "For The Record" anthology.
This lp was released the same time as "The Way We Were" soundtrack, the soundtrack version of "The Way We Were" features a bigger string section and an alternate vocal, the title single and Stevie Wonder's "All In Love Is Fair" were huge hits. The majestic "What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life" just soars, it's one of the best interpretations of this song, Dusty Springfield's version comes in as a close second. Barbra gives Paul Simon a try, her interpretation of "Something So Right" is simply gorgeous. This cd was originally released in the early eighties and was just an analog transfer to digital media, it would be remastered and re-released along with a few trademark Streisand recordings in 2002. This remastered version is absolutely the best.
Simply Amazing.

This is Barbra at her ballad-singing best. Very little yelling here. Okay, just a little in I've Never Been A Woman Before and The Best Thing You've Ever Done - but the rest are - you know - like butta. This woman knows how to tell a story when she sings and each song is hers and hers alone even though they were written by the likes of Carole King, Paul Simon and Stevie Wonder! That's just the Way She Is. Thanks for sharing them with us, Barbra.
FANTASTIC.
