I was born in 1971, so by the time I discovered Barbara Streisand (in the late 80's) she was already an icon. The concert in 1994 is in my opinion, simply the best live recording of her singing in existence. Everything is top notch. The orchestra, the quality of recording and mix is simply perferct. This is the Double CD Soundtrack of her tour which was recorded at the Garden in NYC and that night she was indeed in very good voice. Enjoy!

I hesitate to say anything bad about Barbara Streisand. I love her acting, her politics, her music and her. But if you're in any way a traditionalist, a lover of her classic songs, fond of melodies as they were originally written, then you might be disappointed by this album. Marvin Hamlisch's arrangements are overly grandiose, and Barbara's interpretations and embellishments border on re-writes, to the point that some melodies are almost unrecognizable. The production is dripping with schmaltz and affectation. And, I'm sorry to say, this is not her best singing, as she is frequently off-key and quivery. She also talks between songs, often tying the song into the story. It is interesting to hear her thoughts, but it didn't take long before I wanted to mix out the theatrics. If you're looking to plug some older live shows into your collection, I'd give her various live albums a preview listen before you make your choice(s).
Excellent!

Thus A String Of Live Albums Is Born...

This double set is the first of a string of live albums released by Barbra, this is the most successful of all her live sets to date. There was a single culled from this set, a cd5 really, of Evergreen live and the studio version of "Ordinary Miracles" along with the studio version of "As If We Never Said Goodbye" and the live version of "Ordinary Miracles." Barbra was in good voice and like most singers with a long career betrays a diminishing power but still, the quality of this set is fine, even if she tends to serve up a sermon or two. The dialogue is short in real time but can seem a bit longer, it's somewhat of a distraction but it doesn't damage this set. In my experience it's better to listen to a live set in it's entirety because of the non-stop recording, lifting a song or two for an ipod playlist will sound abrupt in both start and finish due to lack of fade in or out, but that's my hang up.
Beauty and grace at her best

Every track is exquisite. Untouchable! After attending Barbra's concert in 2006, there is no better musical experience to be had. Her style, her quips and beautifully positive approach to each song is timeless and perfect. Every time I feel a need to go back to that concert in my mind, I play this disc and am immediately transported back in time. She has yet to be topped as a performer and will always be the buttah on my toast!
Astounding

Pure ear candy with one exception: lots of talking in btw. numbers, almost too much...but she, the music makes up for it. A-1 orchestra and that voice...oh to sing like her. A must-have!!!
