  • About the song "Why".

Andrew Bird first came to my attention one day while watching him as Dr. Strings on "Jacks Music Show". Just had to have some of his music. "Why" is the first song I bought. "Why" gets better the more you listen to it. The string players are great and Andy will make you laugh.

The Swimming Hour is yet another piece of Andrew Bird's work that will make your ears smile. Quite apart from his solo work, The Swimming Hour wonderfully incorporates an additional vocal piece and is easily catchy. If you are an AB soloist fan then you will love listening to his additional work. Buy it!

'nuff said. This bird is a singing, whistling, violin-playing genius.

Every song in this album is incredibly enjoyable. Though it is very different from his solo albums, this group album holds much of the same charm through witty lyrics and wonderful melodies that characterize Andrew's later solo music. What more is there to say? Buy this music, or you are depriving yourself of a truly good listen.
  • Ecclectic, harmonious brilliance!

This album is Mr. Bird's Bowl of Fire signature work. As his solo shows are quite different than when he's accomponied by the BoF, the range and craftsmanship are still there to remind you what a truly gifted musician/artist he is. One of my favorite albums of all time, hands down.

andrew bird's solo stuff isn't really too much like this, but that's not to say i don't like it, infact the opposite. most of the songs on this album are extremely listenable and catchy, and just because a song is simple doesn't condem it to mediocraty. i'm glad that in this album he branched out more, straying away from the swing music shown on the other two albums. songs like how indescrete and two way action are unlike most andrew bird songs, and i love them.

Seriously, the fact that this album has 3.5 stars collectively just makes me want to hit the clown who rated it a mere ONE STAR! over the head. Disliking a genre does not mean that albums in that particular genre are not well done... and besides, this album is so diverse you couldn't really even stick it into any set genre. It an incredible, eclectic mix of purely artistic enjoyment! Please, if you are any fan of Andrew Bird, not to mention his Bowl of Fire, give it a go. I would consider this cd a merging of his newer work with that of the older BOF offerings... perhaps a transition of sorts. Brilliant! I'm tell you, brilliant!

Oh Andrew Bird is amazing alright! I thought I loved him when I heard mysterious production of eggs but then I discovered his other stuff. Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire is rather different from his solo albums but equally unique, beautiful, and fun to listen to. I got this CD a few days ago and haven't been able to stop listening to it since. Case in Point is one of my new favorite songs of all time and I also quite enjoy Two Way Action, Why, Fatal Flower Garden... oh never mind I love all of them. Do give this a listen, it's different (not my usual sort of music) but it pulls you in and entrances you with all of it's splendiferous melodies.
  • unique and interesting... not so much.

let me start with this, Andrew Bird is amazing! with that said. this album was a total let down. if I wanted to listen to my grandparents old school music... Id go to the old collection of 45's in the basement. there's nothing interesting about a basic 2 chord progression with old "elvis" electric guitar sound. Ive always thought of andrew as really creative and unique, but this album just seems like a step backwards. somebody tell "jerry lee" bird that the 50's are gone and your not gonna bring 'em back. no matter how basic and boreing he makes his normaly wonderful sound become. I still got love, but this albums going to the back of the itunes.
