  • Move ON....Tomorrow

I like Jay Brannan's voice, but he seems trapped within the same song cycle he's had since he started recording. His songs all sound the same and so if you own one Brannan recording, you own them all as his stories never seem to progress. The songs sound fine, but they don't go anywhere. Always sounding the same, then on his previous records and now on this one. Please strike a new chord or two for tomorrow.

Loved Jay ever since I discovered him in Short Bus. "Always, Then, & Now" is one of the single most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I wish I could redo my entire wedding just to make it the official song!

That one person could have such talent—voice, verse, and musicality—is astounding. Profound authenticity shines though in this brilliant execution.

I have followed Jay since Short Bus, seen him play live 3 times and opened for his show with my band twice. I feel the need to explain that i really love him, but i don't see a progression in his artistry. This album doesn't show any sort of growth, and the songs all have such similar chord progressions, it just sort of fell flat to me. I hope he'll take the time after this album to create something better - something thought provoking, or musically challenge himself.
  • back to basics… the right stuff

Jay kept it simple, back to like his first album. He does this best. Although Rob Me Blind was a fantastic album, Jay proves that he can be produced or he can shine keeping it simple like this. Great Job sir! See you on the tour!

Every song sounds the same. There's no variety. Everything has the same cadence, it's the same ol stuff he's been putting out for 7 years. I'm reading to hear him branch out and try a different sound. And if not a different sound, I'd love to just hear some variety.
  • It's like a wonderful key change.

I personally have always loved Jay at his most basic..a voice and a guitar. With that being said, this album is very near to that but has these perfectly added musical nuances that just add to the music so well. I'm so impressed with the simplicity of the songs because the depth and passion is so apparent in the lyrics and vocals. This album is reminiscent of his others but the mood, the tone, and just the overall feeling is strangely new (in a great way). I think this is a breath of fresh air that any Jay Brannan fan would love to take. It's definitely going to be in my top 3 Jay Brannan albums. Listen to "Uncle Auntie-Socialite" "Square One" and "My Love, My Love".
