Jay's originals (Beautiful and Drowning) are amazing. Then when I heard the Joni Mitchell cover was completely blown away by this album. His guitar work, piano, strings and especially Jays voice are incredible. Do yourself a favor and dive in!!

This album is amazing. I tend to listen to it in its entirety at least once daily. Brannan sings beautifully (no pun intended), and this album displays a wonderful array of covers in addition to, I believe, a few original works. However, even the songs that are not his own, he makes his own. Jay Brannan is so talented, and if you like his genre of music, you're in for a treat. So as to not make this album out to be something it's not, I will inform the reader that not everyone likes Brannan's music. However, usually I find that this is a matter of personal taste in music rather than a matter of Brannan's talent. This talent is there completely, and this album displays it beautifully.

..is a god. Seriously. This is amazing...I love his album "Goddamed", but this one is fantastic as well. His cover of Ani DiFranco's 'Both Hands' is amazing, I only wish it was longer. Still an amazing album.
  • simply amazing.

Great album. Jay Brannan is a mastermind, the tracks are all great in their own way. My favorites are Beautifully (such insanely good lyrics!), Zombie, Both Hands, and The Freshmen. I'd totaly recommend buying this, I didn't regret it at all and I'm sure you won't either.

This is real music... Jay recorded this album in his friend's (Drew Brody) bedroom in Brooklyn. It's not doctored up, it's just simply amazing! Jay brings his own artistry to these incredible songs and mixes excellent musical ability with a voice to match. And talk about a self made musician- The only marketing he has is his fans, which is a true testament to beauty, skill, and passion he pours into his music. Every single song on this album is more than good, it's the best- but If I had to pic, his cover of Zombie and Both Hands will touch your soul!

I had not heard much of his previous album, but I fell hard for his work with this album. There really is something soothing to it ... I played it, sat back and relaxed to it ... very smooth, very mellow ... a nice, pleasant change to the normal things I listen to. Every song is easy to listen to, and is definitely in heavy rotation on my iPod. Thanks, Jay, for a great album.
  • Just might be the best CD of the year so far...

...in case anyone was wondering. Jay's version of Jann Arden's anthemic "Good Mother" shows how in the deft hands of a true musical Renaissance Man that a song is completely rediscovered. Who knew that the Cranberries' "Zombie" could sound so quietly relevant in these precarious times. Equally devastating are the new "Drowning" and the all-Jay a cappella choir of "Both Hands." Wow.
  • Continued brilliance!

I've been a fan of Jay's for a long time and this album continues his string of beautiful and deeply moving recordings. The true sign of an artist is an ability to convey the same high quality music and intense emotion when performing live and Jay is a master!
