  • I like what I hear so far...

I just brought two songs by Jay, (half-boyfriend and goddamned) just to see if I liked his style of music, and of the two, goddamed is the best. I was so moved by it that I started crying a bit. It was just so wonderful to hear someone express their criticisms about religion in such an artistic way. I felt like Jay had taken all of the frustrations about religion that have been rattling around in my head for so long and made a song out of it. A beautiful and thought provoking song at that.

Jay Brannan has this infectious way about him. He gets into your musical world and once he's there...he won't leave. Phenomenal beauty with each riff, verse, and word, you will not be dissapointed with this album. The title track is the best song I have ever heard, hands down. Buy it now or you'll be wishing you had for the remainder of your days.

This album comingles my two favorite things: (Gay) Men, and Rainy-Day Music. I'm a fan.

This album is great, albeit at times the songs do sound a bit too similar. As other reviews have stated, the lyrics are witty and even funny. Finally an artist brave enough to write about same-sex relationships, rather than hiding behind the vail of commercial success. There are few things more irritating than hearing some pop star sing about all the girls he wants (when everyone and their cousin knows he's as straight as a u-turn) just to sell albums. Goddamned is definitely my favorite song (this week), although both Housewife and Can't Have it All are also constantly stuck in my head. Although, I really wish he would have included Soda Shop on this album as well.

So I first discovered Jay, while watching a movie called Holding Trevor great movie that he was in I found him when I looked up the soundtrack info for the movie and it turns out that he did all the music for that movie as well. From there I downloaded many songs of his i have seen him three times. He is amazing because his lyrics are relevent to gay society and the problems hopes and dreams that we as a gay community deal with thank you so much!!!!

Simply one of the most gifted singers I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. Beautiful composition and well thought lyrics. This man changed my life a little and gives a new standard for male vocalists!!!

The most beautiful voice I have heard in years, there is nothing not to love about you. Sadly you have taken it to yourself to smear Christ. With all the blessings that God has giving you. You should wake up every day saying thank you, thank you for all the blessings that I have in my life. You can't comprehend God, is futile. God has no end and no beginning, how can you measure love and his power. In he we live and move and have our soul. But hey, hope one day you realize how wonderful the word of God is. I love you Jay!

Ok, this is the first review I have ever written, but the openly honest and bare beauty of this album drove me to right this one. It's so rare for me to hear a genuine artist who can touch me as deeply as Jay did on this album. I have yearned for music like this for so long that at first hearing the lyrics and feeling the songs.. the waterworks began.... you know what I mean. thank Jay.

I actually found out about Jay Brannan in the last few weeks I was with my ex boyfriend, who introduced me to him. I fell in love with Jay's music, lyrics, and voice. A brilliant artist with a clear point of view, which I feel is something many artists today lack. I love that he is open about his sexuality and lifestyle, and that he writes about HIS life and HIS experiences as a gay man. Love this album. Love Jay Brannan. Five stars, hands down.
