And I love to see non-album B-sides available on iTunes, so get this even if you already have The Milk Eyed Mender.
  • Best Song?

iTunes says that "The Sprout and the Bean" is her best song. It sounds like a three-year-old being eaten alive while trying to sing a solo of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star!" Completely tuneless and out of her range! "What We Have Known" sounds like "I have known great music, but it has left this album! Her voice in "What We Have Known" sounds like a toothless cartoon grandmother from a TV show. For a best song, this "Single" is absolutely awful!

If any of you have heard of the new horrer film coming out on May 30, called The Strangers, if you watch the trailer on youtube, the broken record playing is the song Sprout and the Bean during the last 30 seconds of the song. Vocally, the song Sprout and the Bean isn't amazing, but the piano in the background is amazing. But it reminds me of the horror film. Lol
  • A talent that seems boundless in it's simplicity

I'm left filled with sensations. The only way I can compare this is, she captures a more childlike innocence than songs like those from say, Bjork. The music and lyrics are what one might find in our fantasys of old runic towns and medows and quiet shady nooks. Really a talent that seems boundless in it's simplicity.
  • Unique Joanna

I found out about Joanna Newsom on an indie internet radio station. The first song I heard of hers was "Peach, Plum, Pear" and I was instantly hooked. I remember the first time I listenend to it, I was fascinated and had to own the album. The rest of her songs are equally unique and fascinating. Her voice is truly unique, her harp playing is fantastic, her lyrics are amazing, and her melodies are intelligent. I highly reccommend this album.
  • Amazing!

I was at a party last night, and can't explain how fun this album was. We sat around listening to it for a while, and I came home and bought it immediately!! Unforgettable, and something totally different yet just as catchy as any other song/band.

I like finding new stuff and this is definately different! I like reading celebrity playlists and found Joanna Newsom on Fred Armisen's list. I didn't like the song he had picked, but wanted to see what else this performer had to offer - her voice is different, childlike, reminds me of the old vintage 78's, then to find out it is just her and her harp! Classic! This song, Sprout and the Bean, is very melodic and hypnotic. Makes me want to make my own Indie folk CD - different. Leaves me scratching my head in wonderment that I like it yet it is nothing like I have had on my ipod before.
