After listening to this album I thought I would "Take the moment" to thank The Classic Crime and write a review. I thought this album was going to be the "PITS", but after listening to it, I would have driven "Miles and miles” to buy this. Luckily this is now and not like back in the "Summer of '92" and I was able to order it online. "Before I Woke Up" it was here waiting for me on "the Outside" of my mailbox (Don't ask why it's not in my mailbox, I think my mail carrier might be an "Alien"). This album "Highlights" everything I love about The Classic Crime. This album is amazing to listen to when I stroll down to "The Water's Edge" and blast it in the "Cold Loud Dark". "The only thing" about this I'm not sure about is whose soul they had to "Destroy (to) Create" this album.

Miles and Miles, Destroy Create, and Cold Loud Dark are the only good stand-outs. Summer of 92 and PitS are ok. Rest are a hard pass. Unfortunate, since Silver Chord and Phoenix are phenomenal, but this seems to continue a trend of only a couple good ones (like How to Be Human's Not Done With You Yet).

I find myself dancing and head banging to this album. I'm not typically a mover. A nice blend of dance, rock, and vocals. Love the lyrics too.
  • Songs 1-4? Terrible

Overall, this is a good album – albeit somewhat marred by the first four awful, pop-addled tracks. This is one of my favorite bands of all times. And they continue to amaze with great new songs. I only write these harsh words because I don't want them to lose the sound that makes me love them.

Definitely biased towards TCC but I’m always a little nervous for each new album to be up to their standards. This one is an instant classic in a roster of solid albums. If you’re already a TCC fan I would say PITS is a fresh blend of Silver Cord and Vagabonds...end to end good energy.
  • Easily best album since Silver Cord, maybe better

My gosh, this is a masterpiece. The songs individually really pop and are catchy and have a lot of meaning. But the album really shines when listened to altogether. I absolutely love this! The songs are all different but I always try to make a top 5. I've listened to if about 50 times already. 1. Cold Loud Dark 2. P.I.T.S. 3. Summer of '92 4. The Outside 5. Highlights or Destroy Create The album is incredible and deep. I feel like I've grown up with Matt and the gang and listening to songs like Destroy Create just ripped be to shreds. I am not too sure about "Alien," but I love every other song. Maybe that one will grow on me, but

The Classic Crime has been my favorite band since the mid-2000s, and while I love ALL of their albums & how their music has evolved over the years, I’ve definitely missed the “harder” rock that was present in Albatross & The Silver Cord. That said, this album is an extraordinary blend of music reminiscent of both their early and later albums which also somehow brings its own unique sound to create a beautiful new tone. And, as always, I appreciate the openness and vulnerability it takes to write & share such deep, meaningful lyrics that are simultaneously raw and refined. What an accomplishment to capture such a real sense of pain, nostalgia, sorrow, and optimism all in one album. And even better—a sense of optimism that is present WITHOUT ignoring or invalidating past/current personal struggles. I’m grateful for this band and this album.

I hope the Classic Crime never stops producing music. I absolutely loved the last album but man This album is pretty awesome and it’s only been a day. Listened to the album 4x already. I just love it!

I backed the album on Kickstarter and if I knew how good it was going to be I would go back and back it twice. Not a single song falls flat for me. Between the contemplative lyrics to catchy hooks and choruses, there is something on this album for everyone. Grab a cup of coffee, open the lyrics, and spend a morning with this album; you won't regret it. Cheers to independant, meaningful art.
