One of the best metal albums to ever be released. Has a fabulous blend of heaviness, emotions and melodic sections that are clearly classic influnced, one of my all time favourite records!

THis is going to sound like a negative review, but I assure you it isn't. This album is absolutely excellent, and there's no avoiding that. The issue I have is with the amount of material in this album. Essentially this album is made up of three very long songs and 3 filler songs. Pyrrhic in particular is a notably fantastic song, as well as the absolutely massive Painters of the Tempest, which is NeO's losgest song to date. My issue lies with the three filler songs that really serve no purpose other than to make the album into a sort of directed, constant song that comes close to being an hour in length. I really wish these songs had been built upon and expanded into instrumental (or not) songs akin to the first half of Forget Not from Portal of I, songs that have a distinct melody rather than just existing to be essentially spacer tracks. Regardless of this nitpicky criticism, this album is superb and worth the purchase.

At first I was hesitant to get this album, because the two longest songs are blocked off on album only. Their last album was pretty good and the songs I could hear were nice, but not mind blowing unless you just have a thing for violins. (They're mostly preludes and epilogues with violins) Those two songs which have a total time of about half an hour have everything. They're: dark, surprising, pretty, intricate, and intense with lofty, flawless transitions to relaxed and back. Get it. Worth it, definitely.

Such a massive album to be dropped here after a great first album their sophomore shows more great cohesive vocals between Tim and Marc! They take you to another place as you are swept with piano and violin and are picked back up with guitars and massive drumming. By the end it all comes together in this melodic/heavy piece that is the citadel and it's only downfall it leaves you curious and wanting more.

This album technically only has 3 songs and is still nothing to complain about.

I am one that has delved into the many types of metal, from dark and damp sounding death metal to beautiful pieces of progressive deathlyness of this album. This is a fantastic and beautiful piece of art. Portal of I was an incredible album as well, but this sounds more focused and delivers a more stronger output. Do yourselves a favor and buy this

Amazing, mystifying, magical metal. A little bit of everything. A mystifying experience.
