  • Great readings

Shatner may not be the greatest actor on earth. However, his reading of these song lyrics is simply fabulous! Strongly recommended if you can expand your mind to allow for alternate interpretations. This album is worth the price just for his way with Bohemian Rhapsody.

You can tell William Shatner really wants to be a rock star, but he can't seem to find the right way to make it happen. Sadly, this is no 'Has Been' which was a great reflection on him and his career with songs that actually made sense. Here we get a combination of classic rock songs with William Shanter trying to come up with an idea for them (and gawd forbid he tries to sing on Bohemian Rhapsody.) The songs are also interspliced with other songs to try and give it a concept album feel, but it fails miserably under the over production.
  • Got to love Shatner - Just fun and laughs

You have to give it to Shatner he knows how to make you laugh with his dry delivery. So serious and over the top deadpan spoken lyrics is terrific. A fun listen, I;m still wipping the tears from my eyes I was laughing so hard. Thanks for the endorphin kick.
  • Stunning!

ROTFLMAO! Shades of Pat Boone’s attempt to do heavy metal. Perfect album to have playing when one is sitting in Denny’s at 4 AM trying to sober up and recall the night just past...

This is better than what I expected and even more than I could have possibly imagined. My playlist has been Shatnerized and my home is Shatnerful of wonder! Five stars? I'd give it five hundred, for all this joy! Thank you, Mr. Shatner, sir.
  • God Bless you William Shatner

I dunno, I just don't really appreciate "spoken word singing". I'm not saying it's bad, it's just not really my thing. I have to say I'm a fan of William Shatner, I'm a fan of his acting and his work as an author, and I tried to enjoy this, but it's just not for me. If you're thinking of buying this, listen to the samples. if it seems like it's quirky enough for your tastes, then go for it. The thing about Shatner is that he's been a joke for a good many decades, but the GREAT thing about Shatner is that he's learned to laugh with us, and embrace his popularity, even when it comes to the jokes. I can also tell he put a lot of work into this album, so I feel bad for not liking it that much, but it's really just out there, for me. I will say I did like his rendition of Duran Duran's "Planet Earth", though
  • Disappointing Effort

I enjoy Shatner's music and there's no doubt he has a good sense of humor and timing. However, compared to his previous album with Ben Folds this album is lackluster. Shatner seems lost as to how to perform many of the songs. Shatner is at his best when he performs songs seriously with just a wink to let us know he's in on the joke. This album finds him mainly trying too hard to sound funny. At times he sounds drunk, at others he sounds like he's trying to be silly but just comes off as trying too hard. If you want an excellent Shatner album listen to "Has Been".
