It’s funny how things work out. The other day I was listening to some Linda Ronstadt and wishing that there were some really good torch songs in `Olelo Hawai`i. Then this afternoon a friend e-mailed me that I should head over to iTunes and check out He Nani, the latest Daniel Ho, Tia Carrere, Amy Stillman collaboration. MAN oh man! Talk about wishes being fulfilled! The title cut, “He Nani,” is a total torch song – but for our beautiful home. For me, it’s the strongest song in the album. But the others are delightful as well. If you are looking for an album to relax to after a stressful day, to unwind to, to watch gentle rain by, to sink into a hot bubble bath with, then I highly recommend “He Nani.” Amy’s gentle lyrics, Tia’s warm vocals, and Daniel’s instantly recognizable arrangements are soothing, comforting, and bring back wonderful misty memories of soft rainy days gone by. Enjoy!

These songs are musically sophisticated. Carerre and Ho seem to be opening a new path for Hawaiian music. I find this very exciting! Furthermore, Carrere's Hawaiian language pronunciation is nearly flawless. I enjoyed 'Ikena immensely, and this CD is a strong followup. My highest recommendation!
