    Forget their later major label records (and definitely forget "Runaway Train"). This captures Soul Asylum when they were still Loud and Fast (and Ruled, as a result) but were finding their songwriting chops. "Freaks" and "Closer to the Stars" are maybe the best songs Soul Asylum ever wrote, while "Passing Sad Daydream" sounds like Hüsker Dü playing a Lynyrd Skynrd ballad.
