  • Different sound, but good

I’ve followed KONGOS since their Lunatic album in 2012 and I love their sound. Their sound is typically upbeat, leaning more toward alternative rock. However, while I do like this album, I find the sound and lyrics much more somber. I’m not sure if it’s to reflect the current political climate in the US where there’s uncertainty, tension, and a sadder tone to our world since Egomaniac came out or if it’s something else. It’s incredibly poignant and really insightful. It’s definitely a different style - branching off from their previous albums, but awesome nonetheless. You need to give it a listen, these dudes are geniuses.

This is not what I expected from Kongos. I like a few of their older songs , but I was curious and listened to this particular album and I can say it’s a great one. To me, the songs that stuck with me the most in the first listen were “Everything Must Go” and “I Am Not Me”. This is definitely staying in my library for a long time.
