Description

A new sizzling, irresistible, adventure-filled, medieval Scottish romance series from USA Today bestselling author, Eliza Knight. Three Scottish brothers, born minutes apart, must safeguard the lands their father left each of them as their legacy, against their enemies, and the feisty, independent ladies who remind them what it is to be human and loved.

Lady Douglass de Clifford is reticent about marrying an English soldier who holds a Scottish castle for the English king—after all, she doesn't believe the English should be battling the Scots for their own land. When she arrives in Dumfries, their party is unexpectedly ambushed. Besieged by rebel Scots, she is tossed from her horse, only to be saved by a Highland warrior who promises safety even as he absconds with her. She vows to run away until his tender kiss makes her doubt everything she's ever known.

Laird Noah Sinclair had not expected to find an English bride in the center of his battle, and now he's determined to take from his enemy what he prizes most—his lady. As the eldest of his brothers, and laird of his clan, he has a responsibility to those who look to him for leadership. But when Lady Douglass threatens to leave and is nearly accosted by an outlaw, he is determined to prove to everyone that she is his and his alone. While at first, his decision to steal the prize seemed like a punishment, her kiss proves to be rewarding all on its own.

But love seems impossible. Despite the passion igniting between Noah and Douglass, they wed for her protection and his revenge. Tucked away from the battle at Castle Buanaiche in the northernmost part of the Highlands, Noah fears misfortune may befall his clan for stealing another man's bride, and it seems as if danger is a little closer at hand than they both expected...

It is when King Edward I Longshanks, the hammer of the Scots, is trying to over take Scotland and wiping every Scottish inhabitant away, stealing their fortresses and lands plus murdering and torturing the people. He awards men like Sir John de Segrave Scottish castles and brides as rewards. Seagrave is an English knight that has been violating Scotland and its people for years. In this case it was Lady Douglass de Clifford the King who was forced to marry. The last thing she wants is to marry this man as she has heard how ruthless he is on the battlefield. Plus it’s a forced marriage ordered by her King Edward I not a love match. She doesn’t agree that England is stealing everything from the Scottish people. She feels England should stay in England and stop stealing from the Scottish people and leave them and their country alone. After all it is the Scottish people’s homeland though she does see them as barbaric from everything she has heard. As Laird Noah Sinclair knows that Seagrave has been leading the English in destroying his land and murdering its people. Enough is enough he hears his betrothed is coming, so for revenge Laird Noah Sinclair steals Douglass, yet it is also to protect her too. Will Segraves come after Noah and try to steal Douglass or will he want to kill her, thinking her as damaged goods? Will Douglass' father want to go to war with the Sinclair clan thinking his daughter was taken against her will and is being mistreated along with his sister Alice? As for Segraves He can’t let Noah have her as she was his merchandise, a gift from Longshanks but will Noah let the woman who owns his heart go? Is it a battle to the death? Can Noah survive? Read and find out! Another fabulous Eliza Knight story that I absolutely loved. It shows how not all English people are in agreement with the English violating Scotland and its people. As some feel Scotland should just be left alone after all it was never theirs to just steal, raid and battle over! Again Knight weaves historical facts with the mention of some iconic historical figures like King Robert the Bruce and King Edward I Longshanks of England that they call the hammer of the Scot’s. Knight also pens beautiful enemies to lovers, a story that is absolutely extraordinary right from the start. I loved the instant chemistry between the English Lady and the Scottish Laird as he is definitely a swoon worthy character romance readers will love. The heroine was easy to enjoy as she wanted an equal partner but wanted to learn how to help and work with others in the clan but asked questions when she didn't understand. I have been reading Eliza Knight books for over twelve years and I have loved everything she has ever written. I started with her Scottish historical romance books but i also love her Historical fiction books like The Mayfair Bookshop which was absolutely brilliant. I look forward to reading Starring Adele Astaire that will be released on June 6, 2023. I highly recommend The Lairds Prize as it's a magnificent start to a captivating new series!
