Description

Highland war heroes rebuilding their lives grapple with ladies forging their own paths—who will win?

Scarred by the brutal ravages of war, Lorne Gordon, Duke of Sutherland, returns to the Highlands to discover that his clan thought him long dead. His greedy half-brother has assumed his title, sold his family seat and disappeared with the fortune. Once he engineers the return of his title, he must convince the new estate owner to reverse the wholly legal sale with the promise that his half-brother, and the funds, will be found. However, that goal seems impossible when Lorne discovers the buyer is none other than his ex-betrothed’s sister.

After several humiliating attempts at securing a husband, Jaime Andrewson gives up on marriage and throws herself into her father’s business. She burns with vengeance towards the entire Sutherland family after their chieftain caused her sister’s fall from grace. Although she’d thought the man who betrayed her sister was dead, acquiring his property had been her main goal since taking over her father’s company. But with Lorne Gordon alive, vengeance is all the sweeter, for she desires only to watch him suffer.

Despite Lorne’s fury, he has to find a way to convince her to return what is rightfully his—even if he has to go so far as to marry her. Though out of practice with the arts of flirtation, there is one thing he does not lack—determination. With his pockets empty and a snarl on his lips, Lorne is determined to win her trust and her hand. When unexpected family secrets on both sides are exposed, Lorne realizes that wooing Jaime will be a bigger challenge than any of the other battles he’s ever fought, but it is one he refuses to lose.

Wonderful heroine. Smart and liberated. The hero could be one of those morose tortured heroes but his strength of character enables him to rise above his trials. Loved both of them. Interesting plot. Very well written with several sexy but sensitive love scenes.
  • Those fabulous Sutherland’s

Eliza Knight’s “Return of the Scot” (Scots of Honor Book 1) is a fantastic way to start a new series! Lorne Gordon, Duke of Sutherland has returned from war, thought dead by his family and clan. His greedy half-brother has assumed his title, sold his family seat and disappeared with the fortune. He must immediately secure his title and regain his estate. Haven’t gotten his title back getting his estate returned to him seems less likely if not impossible when Lorne discovers the buyer is none other than his ex-betrothed’s sister. Jaime Andrewson’s heart is filled with vengeance towards the entire Sutherland family. She blames him for causing her sister’s fall from grace, which of course he didn’t and seeing he wants his home back she’s happy to use it to torment him. As if the poor man hasn’t had enough suffering. He was held as a prisoner in the Peninsular War and suffered mentally and physically. He was held as a prisoner in the Peninsular War and suffered mentally and physically. What Jaimie didn’t bank on was his determination to reclaim his home at any cost, even marrying her! What amazing characters! Lorne was such a perfect hero, a good man, honorable, a gentleman and a swoon worthy hero who survived the ravages of war and being prisoner, seeking peace and calm in his life. Jaime is a young woman who’s given up on marriage and thrown herself into her father’s business trying to prove her business acumen. She’s not only beautiful but intelligent, strong and sassy with a head for businesses. Family secrets and a bit of a mystery drive this fantastic story. The characters are charming and intriguing. From the start you want this couple this couple together and it was so delightful watching them find their way and navigate the family dynamics that stood in their way. The dialogue is smart and sassy (I loved the banter) and the imagery is just amazing, allowing you to envision the story as it plays out. I enjoyed watching these two navigate their relationship from hatred to falling in love. The author brings the characters and this wonderful, compelling heartwarming story to life beautifully! I find this to be true of all her books I’ve read and enjoyed so far. I can always rely on her stories to stir my heart. Thank you so much Ms. Knight for this beautifully written love story!

Book: Return of the Scot By Eliza Knight Series: Scots of Honor, Book One Release Date: June 29, 2021 Publisher: Knight Media Overall Book Review Rating: 5 Stars Blog Review Rating: 5 Saltire Flags Scottish Highlands 1816 Lorne Gordon, Duke of Sutherland and Colonel of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, finally returns home after being in prison in France for two long tortured years! He was happy at least they didn’t remove any of his limbs and he was alive, but he had not gotten off without many scars from their brutality both mentally and physically. So he comes home scaring the daylights out of his clan all thinking they are seeing a ghost! As he finds out his jealous wastrel half brother Gilles, who he had hoped would have matured and grown up by now! Obviously he hadn’t and had been jealous of Lorne and probably still gambling and he would not be surprised if he sold their castle and lands for both some kind of jealous revenge and to also pay off his gambling debts and bad choices! Yet he is putting his clan out on the street and has ran off with his fortune and has totally disappeared! As if that is not bad enough Lorne finds out the buyer J.Andrewson is not a man, but the sister Jaime of his former betrothed, Shanna Andrewson. A woman who betrayed him with another man and got pregnant and told everyone it was his bairn. An enormous lie as he never even kissed the lass, as this was only an arranged union and how the Andrewson family must despise him thinking he just left her with a bairn in her belly. Something he would never do, but he wouldn’t marry a cheater with another mans child! As he just wanted out of his relationship with this lying woman as he knew the entire Andrewson family hated him believing Shanna’s enormous lie that he is her son’s father. He being a gentleman never corrected the lie Shanna told everyone that he left her with a bairn in belly! So he was understanding why Jaime didn’t want to give up his castle and lands, even though she claims it was for her shipping business, but he knew it was just for a game of revenge! Now Jaime Andrewson was not interested in any man to marry, even though she is very beautiful. The only people she cares for is her sister Shanna and young nephew Geordie. She believes the deception her sister told her and bought the Dunrobin castle and Sutherland lands thinking a little revenge from the grave. So she at first thinks this is a joke believing Lorne Gordon is dead, but is shocked to find him living and breathing under her roof. She is also disgusted with herself as she didn’t remember this man being so swoon worthy gorgeous! She can’t be attracted to her sister’s betrayer as it is so wrong on so many levels! Yet the more time she spends with him the more of a chance to start another scandal, but she also realizes she is not remembering things correctly from all those years ago. Eliza Knight starts with another stupendous new series that is witty, heartwarming and endearing filled with loads of conflicts and surprises. It is in Knight’s usual unique style with her usual gift of keeping the readers entertained with her rich gift of delightful storytelling adventures. As Lorne and Jamie’s story wraps itself around you, holds on and never let’s go! I can’t wait for next book in this captivating series. Bravo as this book is another absolute winner in my opinion.
