There is absolutely no R&B album that I love more than this one. One of the greatest albums of all time, from one of the greatest singers of all time. Any person who is a fan of R&B has studied this album. It’s in a league of its own. Faith is my favorite vocalist ever. What an era. Simply Unmatched.

This was R&B at it’s best time. This album is still incomparable in 2019, Thank-you Faith!
  • Not just Biggie’s wife.

I’m tired of some people downplaying this woman’s talents and abilities by only reducing her to being Biggie’s wife. Yes, Faith Evans was his wife (RIP) but she is so much more than her high-profile relationship. And her debut album clearly shows that. I’ve never heard a more sweet-sounding, cohesive, R&B/Soul/Gospel album in my entire life. Dare I say it’s the best R&B album in the last 25 years - or better yet, the best R&B album of all time! If you listen to this album in its entirety, you will understand what I mean. Every song fits so perfectly; they all sound similar, but somehow completely different. This album evokes emotions of love, desire, of religious faith in the most beautiful, classy, and thematic way possible. I need a whole ‘nother post just to talk about her hypnotizing voice and genius freestyle ad-libs. This is Faith in her truest form. This album, no doubt, cemented her as a R&B icon - regardless of whether people choose to acknowledge it or not.

I was in high school when this album dropped. It was a fantastic time for R&B. Bad Boy gave us Total, Mary J. Blige and Faith. The first time I actually heard Faith Evans' voice was on Usher's first album as a backup singer and I remember how amazing she sounded. She continues to be an amazing singer and her first solo effort is no exception. "Soon As I Get Home" is still one of the best R&B albums produced EVER. Its been 20 years and that record still sounds as good now as it did then.
