Rocking as always and take a listen to Confessor, which a hell of a beast!
  • They need to kiss and make up. They could be today's biggest rock band.

It's a miracle really. These guys aren't just some "PR supergroup". They are a super neo-70s group. A true band. A powerful band. Afterglow is a strong album. And this is what rock needs in 2013. Now a couple of points. Glenn Hughes is among the best singers of all time. Maybe Joe B. does some Coverdale/Hughes type trade offs and some harmonies too, but there is NO WAY Joe becomes the main singer. Just no way. Joe is an average singer. Maybe some people like his style but he's nowhere near the level to be a lead singer for a band like this. Glenn is a legend. A BIG legend, and he needs to remain in the singer's chair. Period. One more thing about Joe. He's become that middle-aged wealthy guy's guitar hero. So he's getting a lot of money thrown his way, and although I'm glad for him, it's a cancer for the band. That's the one dirty secret that people don't know. If Joe wants to go off and be the great solo act, then so be it. But if he wants to be in one of the potentially greatest bands of all time that just happened to come around at the right time, then this is his chance, and probably his last. Yeah, BCC is 70's, but it's also NOW. Think about it Joe. Don't do both. Imagine Jimmy Page having an ongoing solo career during Zep. The Zep magic would never have been. BCC also put the burden of writing a bunch of the tunes on Hughes. That's big time BS. Even Kevin Shirley was in on that one. So I understand Glenn's frustrations. I'm actually surprised Joe B doesn't get how unprofessional that seems. If you want that magic, it's all or nothing Joe. Quit being a diva. And I'll say what others are afraid to say. There are MANY guitarists as capable or better than Joe. Right place right time for Joe. But he is very good, and BCC needs him desperately. About Glenn. As big a fan I am of yours, you need to check your ego, and your insecurities, because you're going to sabotage yourself again. And you're running out of time. You've been handed a gift from God in Joe, Jason, Derek and Kevin. And you're blowing it. Almost everything Joe said about the breakup is true. You need to man up and either live your dream or watch it go down the toilet. The ball is in your court. Think, what would Jon Lord do? Joe needs to commit to more touring (for awhile at least), but other than that, you need to make things right. Don't make the mistake that you're the "great Glenn Hughes" and they're all going to wait on you because they won't. Don't blow this Glenn. Jason. Sorry I'm not saying as much about you but you are doing such a perfect job at everything, that not saying anything other than your drumming and music is at the highest level I've heard from you, and that means you're stability is incredibly important to this great band. Same for you Derek. Kevin. Glenn is always saying "Kevin is a dear friend", or "Kevin is my best friend", or "David Coverdale is my best friend". It's not your job, but have you had a conversation with Glenn about his self image? Cause he needs it. Maybe you should take some power away from Glenn and manage this project. It's that important. This music needs to be made by these players. Please, guys, try to look at what you'll all be giving up. So many people know Joe, Kevin, Jason, Derek and Glenn because of BCC. Are we really ready for another bad ending? Quitting would be failure. And BCC will be forgotten if you guys give up now. BCC is a gift. Give us 10 years of albums and tours and you will be rewarded with that something special reserved only for the elite. God Bless. Do the right thing.

I loved the first two from this eclectic assemblage of artists, but this one rules. Glenn has been into funk for years, Joe is a contemporary blues master, Derek hails from the prog-rockish Dream Theater and Jason, well, there's that Zeppelin thing, In the final summation the Zeppelin sound wins out and who is going to complain about that? Afterglow improves with each listen, the mark of great music. I am blessed to have a major radio show to help turn people on to the best "current classic" band there is. Settle your differences, Joe and Glenn, and keep making more BCC albums.

Another great CD...great classic rock from the 70's! Not sure Bonamassa knows how freakin good he is! Joe, Glenn, Jason and Derek need to go on the road together although I don't think JB has a lot of spare time! Just glad they can put out quality music in the studio...keep it up boys!!! CP

This album is spectacular from top to bottom, the variety of tracks has great range. They have the same great hard classic rock sound and have also mixed in some great smooth laid back tunes much like Led Zeppelin did in their early years. This group never disappoints and I can't for the life of me figure out why the stupid radio stations won't play their music, boycott corporate radio. Let your freak flag fly!!!!
  • Best BCC album yet!

I'll admit, I was a little apprehensive Afterglow at first. I was not impressed with the snippets on the BCC main page, but I decided to preorder anyway. Boy, I'm glad I did. The group started to develop a personality with their last album, 2, but in afterglow they developed their identity.

I finally got this at Best Buy yesterday, and I was immediately blown away. I see what they mean when they said it was originally a Glenn Hughes solo album; there are a lot of funk influences on this record. That's not to say there's no hard blues rock. There is PLENTY of that. Big train just gets things going so great right away and it shows this will be great. One of my favorite tracks has to be Common Man. Although the riff sounds like Rush's Tom Sawyer, the song is just so cool with its different mood changes and sounds. I was especially impressed when each member had a chance to solo, then Derek Shirinian went off on a Jon Lord-inspired rampage of keyboards. He gets a lot more room to shine on this album, and him and Bonamassa actually "battle" each other in soloing on some songs. Man what a rush it is when you hear these 4 play. Honestly I can't recommend a few single tracks, because this (along with the other 2 BCC albums) is something to be experienced in full. I only hope they can stay together long enough to not make this the last. If it is to be the final record, at least they went out in a bang.
