Edward Douglas and Gavin Goska, the two souls who make up Midnight Syndicate, have always been able to create something more than brilliant. This macabre journey through a dark Carnival has everything you'd want out of a Gothic Horror album. Each song is beautifully crafted, adding to the overall genius of the album. The theme that Midnight Syndicate has picked up on this album, the idea of a Carnival, has been dealt with across the genre of Horror in mediums spanning books to movies to even music, but very few have reached the creativity and truly bizarre nature which Carnival Arcane has managed to reach. Over the years, Midnight Syndicate has changed, adapting and adding to their style, while maintaining that which makes them soar above their contemporaries. If you've ever listened to a Midnight Syndicate album, I can guarantee you this experience is as good as, if not better than their best works. For newcomers, this album is an excellent introduction into the beautifully haunting world of Midnight Syndicate.
