One of the worst albums out of RA's entire catalog, arguablly right next to 'R&R' in my mind. Don't just take my word for it, just pay attention how many songs from this double album are sourced from RA's own live shows..very little. I love RA, but these songs were originally not released for a reason.
GREAT GREAT GREAT

I prefer Ryan the singer-songwriter, not Ryan the guy who writes boring chord rock stuff. Ryan, go drink yourself a bottle of whiskey and sit in a room by yourself and give us more stuff like Sylvia Plath, Oh My God, etc. That is the REAL Ryan Adams.
Absolutely amazing.

I've been a Ryan Adams fan for years and this is one of the best albums he's released. The raw emotion that's in each track is what really makes it for me. In No, the dynamics are constantly changing, going from quiet to practically screaming in a matter of seconds. Songs like that are really hard to do well but Ryan's strong vocals make the song. I love the general angry mood of this album but how there are a couple of playful sarcastic songs like Star Wars mixed in. Even the slower songs like Gracie and Lovely and Blue are full of the energy and emotion that the more fast-paced songs convey. This is one of best $13 I've ever spent and I couldn't recommend it more.

I'm shocked that people aren't more into this album! I am a huge Ryan Adams fan and have everything I can get my hands on by him, however, some of his stuff is soooo sleepy and I'm sure there's a market for that too, but this is such an amazing record! Gracie, is a wonderful and sad track that reminds me of my OWN dog and there will come a day when that song will make me super sad. It already makes me cry. Numbers is a great rocker that seems to build to a crescendo and then falls into a dreamlike chorus.
This is a phenomenal album and I don't care what anyone else says!!
Die Hard DRA fan!

I, for the first time in 11 years, did not connect with this albuml. It seemed like left over "B sides" they pulled from a closet and stuck on an album. I will say that I love the DRA that plays more personal and meaningful ballads than anything else. I cannot wait until October 11 when Ashes & Fire releases! It is more personal. And any RA fan knows that he is a true genius for painting that picture in your head when he sings. Love you, Ry!!! Keep them coming....I have been going through withdrawals down here in GA!! <3

What happened to this guy? He used to make really great records and mix it up, this all sounds the same. Where is Magnolia Mountain, Trains, Come Pick Me Up, or English Girls Approximately?
Awesome !

Um for those who say Ryan has always Ben altcountry/rock ? Don't know his early years well enough. And it sounds like a few reviews are from people that just found him during easy tiger. Even during whiskeytown he showed his punk and pop punk colors and if you dig deeper you will find his pre whiskey years are nothing but punk band after punk band,,, just dig a little deeper and
You'll respect this album more , and then you'll sound like you know what your talking about.
