Can't Trucks play anything new? Sounds like a CHEAP Allman Brothers Tribute band.

This guy is the most amazing guitar player... His feel is just out of this world. I hate him!!!! I bumped into him backstage at a show years ago but didn't say anything, now I really regret it.

I've been a fan of the Derek Trucks Band for a long time, and over the years, I've always wondered why they seemed somewhat hesitant to truly embrace their ultimate strength: being a blues band. Their knack for the middle eastern and jazz influenced sound has been wonderful, but there always seemed to be a bit of reservation about really jumping feet first into the blues swimming pool. After Already Free was released, I thought they had finally jumped off the diving board and made the record they've always wanted to make. How do they top it? They take the Already Free sound and lay it down in a live setting, and released it to the masses-And that's what they've done with this record. I've seen them more than probably any other band in my life, and I am still left dumbfounded watching Derek's ability to make a guitar sing. And after buying this album, I was left feeling the same way sitting in my living room that i do when walking out of one of his shows. Awestruck might be the only real word. It's also worth noting that while Derek is certainly the centerpiece, Mike Mattison has gotten the opportunity to shine on this record, primarily because of the embracing of the blues catalogue they have cultivated over the years. His interplay with Derek on "Get What You Deserve" is really special, and something you don't get too often, a guitar and voice complimenting each other with great aplomb. This is one of the finest live records I've heard, and proves to me that with just about every record, they continue to raise the bar. Whether the hiatus of this band becomes permanent or not, it was certainly a great way to wrap up the years with this lineup.

Unbelievable! Mike's voice and Derek's slide guitar performance are untouchable. Every song is just great one after another. Climb aboard and enjoy. Worth the investment.

I grew up listening to SRV, even saw him a few times. I love guitar based blues, but if i hear 'Pride & Joy' or 'Sweet Home Chicago' one more time I am going to bludgeon myself with my Les Paul. This is the album KWS and Johnny Lang wished they could make. Fresh original songs, superior sound quality. The bass playing/tone is great, the singer is very tasty (I'm done listening to singers who warble and flutter like Christina Aguilera), all mixed together quite well. I dare say some of the arrangements border on jazz, but only because I expect a 'blues' album to have only 3 chords on it- not the case here. This is a recording of real musicians playing interesting tunes. My only criticism would be that the rest of the band doesn't get showcased enough. I wish my gigs sounded this good...

I think he is very good and I like his music and songs but the slide guitar is too much sometimes and it becomes annoying.

This is DTB at their finest, tearing it up one song at a time. From the first notes of I'll Find My Way you can tell the band has indeed found their way. The encore of Derek & The Dominos Anyday is a perfect finale. Everything in between is a musical journey of grand proportions. Simply put buy this now!

Since I started listening to the Derek Trucks Band in 2003, I have been hooked. At that point Derek was 23, I believe and I was just floored at this young Duane Allman disciple. Following DTB and Derek's careers introduced me to many forms of music that I previously had not known. In the years since, the DTB has developed a unique sound that is separate from groups like the Allman Brothers Band. At this point Derek is off in his own world with slide guitar; advancing what Duane began nearly 40 years earlier. This album also incorporates the styles of play that Derek used playing with Eric Clapton in 2007. Truly amazing watching these guys grow as musicians. These are also some of the nicest individuals that you will ever meet if you get the chance at a concert. Great album.

OMG better and better. I've been a fan of every guitarist since the 60's.... DT is now on top. I've loved all these songs before but on this album I can sum it all up with one word - crisp! Thank you Derek, Susan and Band. You bring so much good to the world.
