Mao Abe is a pop star who sings and writes absolutely nothing like one. Her debut is rough, unpolished, and authentic. The highlight is definitely 'Deadline,' an angry song that rises to an emotional, unnerving crescendo. She isn't always screaming at wanna-be boyfriends, fortunately. Songs like 'Want You Darling' and 'My Baby' are cute and approachable without sounding fake. (The lyrics for Darling are also absolutely adorable.) If you like straightforward pop-rock I recommend the whole album. I recommend the whole album period, actually. It's strong enough that I think most fans won't be disappointed.

This album is great. Abe Mao has great talent, style and CUTENESS!! But really.... This album has very interesting sound. Her getting into a rock kind of thing with a acoustic guitar is really good and interesting. She has great vocals, great guitar skills and she makes this an AWESOME ALBUM! Hope to see mroe from her and hope USA iTunes get her singles. Peace!

Abe Mao is one of the hottest young stars in the world of J-POP. Ms Abe is not only a talented singer, but also a songwriter and composer. Most of her songs are in Japanese, but if you have conversational command of the language you shouldn't have much trouble understanding the words; it's not complex Japanese at all. Her accent is rather noticable; it doesn't sound like that of any other Japanese that I know, but most of the people I know are from Kanto (Tokyo area) or Ishikawa. Since she is from Ooita, I'm guessing that she speaks with a Kyushu accent.
  • A MUST HAVE FOR ANY J-POP LOVERS!
