Don't be put off by a few bossa nova chestnuts--this is a lyrical and wonderful album by "the female Joao Gilberto" and not-overrated jazz great Ron Carter, filled in with lovely guitar and clarinent. Carter's one weakness is that he sometimes dominates with an overrecorded. orotund bass tone. He keeps that in check here and functions as the best-possible accompaniest, taking only the occasional superb solo. You can put it on as soothing background music or listen as closely as you would like.
