The album is amazing. Simply amazing. The people who detest the music don't like it because it's too much for their poor little stupid brains to comprehend. These time signatures that they use are like no other, just the band is like no other. Buy the record!!!!

What a great album this is... And it's even better now that it's been mastered. The ambiences are a nice touch. This is the first album I ever heard from these guys and it has power over me still. "Closed eye visuals" and "Glints collide" are amazing songs. Click yes if you think Meshuggah takes it down!
  • I don't know why this album doesn't have more reviews

Nothing and obZen are my top two favorite Meshuggah albums. I don't know why Nothing is so low on Itunes sales, it's an incredible album. It leaves behind the chaos of Chaosphere and instead focuses on brutally heavy, droning grooves. With the introduction of the new 8 string guitars, the sound is crushingly heavy and mezmerizing. If you buy this album get the Remastered version. The original version was recorded with 7 string guitars and did not sound too great. This version is re-recorded with 8 strings, vocals are different, and the "drumkit from hell" is used to improve the tone of the drums. Amazing Album! Buy It!

This album is amazing from start to finish. I love the solo in Straws Pulled at Random and i love the simplicity of Spasm which just makes for an awesome tune. This band SAVED metal and revolutionized it as well with this album. You're not a metalhead if you don't like this album...sorry.

Meshuggah is by far one of THE most original bands in the metal scene. But this band is not for everyone: they have an "off" time signature, so it seems like it won't match, but it does after a couple listens. This album is like the others as Frederick and Marten use 8 string guitars, giving it that strange distorted sound, while Haake's crazy drums and Kidman's robotic singing, it really is something to look at. I suggest buying this album at a store though, only because it comes with a live DVD, as well as interviews and the Rational Gaze music video
  • this is a simply mediocre album from a mediocre band

Good for heavy music. Better than some, but no where as good as the rest. this is a simply mediocre album from a mediocre band. I can only really listen to it as background music. It is loud. Recorded in the manner of most metal. Loudly, so you inevitably get alot of distorted ugly noise is its too loud and your speaker cannot handle it. If you are looking for growl in your metal, look else where, this is mostly shouting. The guitars are decently played and the drums are little better than that. Practically useless bass player. The long songs are too long and droney. Rational Gaze is one of the better songs.

the new album (as previously mentioned by other reviews) has had a great deal of re-recording and new mastering. but what most people fail to see in Messhuggah is that it's not about what they do, as so much about what they aren't. The body of this music is about the rests, and the spaces between the notes, not about continually playing chords or melodies. It is minamalism at heart. Everything is made to seem very "robotic" and stale, but the grooves and polyrythms are what hook you in and keep you comig back for more. In all the album is beyond amazing in all of it's attributes: sound quality- song structure- originality
  • Great but singer kills it.

It sounds really good and i love the guitars but the vocals are very rough almost sounding like Cannibal Corpse. Good effort though.
  • Side by side.

Content wise these guys always deliver and with this re-release they got some kinks out of the way. This album was mastered much more efficiently (LOUDER). If you do a side by side preview of this album and the original release you'll notice that you may have to back the volume down a bit for this one. The production crew didn't give 100% the first time around and I believe they definitely made up for it here. Meshuggah ALWAYS delivers... You can hear how flawlessly they pull it off.
