Johnny 4747 is 100% correct. This is the only version that captures the populist allure of Eva Peron . . . Future productions turn her into a caricature without trying to explain why she was loved by so many.
  • By far the best version of the musical.

This is the original studio recording produced by Lloyd Webber & Rice in 1976. This is by far the best version of Evita, perhaps because later versions were done by other producers. Julie Covington is a powerful Evita with great depth in her singing, she sang the original "Don't cry for me... " hit.
