Description

He leads the league in scoring. My heart won't give him another shot.

I swore I'd never come back to Denver.

I'd never trust the wrong man again.

But here I am, back in the same place as the bad boy athlete who broke my heart.

Clay rules the basketball court, and now he's gunning for redemption. But I'm not the same girl who fell for the man behind the all-star image and reputation.

He made me want him like I've never wanted anyone.

He made me feel like I was the only thing that mattered.

A single look can make me ache.

A whispered promise in his gruff voice makes my chest tight.

Clay'll do anything to prove we're worth another shot.

Shot Taker is a full-length grumpy sunshine sports romance and book 2 in the King of the Court series. Clay and Nova's story begins in Game Changer and concludes in Play Maker.

I loved the connections between Nova and Clay. Clay finally becoming invested in the individual team members and’s committed to checking on coach in the hospital.

Shot Taker is book 2 in the Kings of the Court series. This sports romance is a continuation of Clay and Nova’s book. I loved getting to see a softer, vulnerable side to Clay as he fought to win Nova’s heart. The chemistry can still be felt between the two and I loved as their connection continued to grow. I enjoyed the groups witty banter. Another well written story. Can’t wait to see how their journey ends. Lance Greenfield and Carly Robins did another great job portraying these characters.
  • More Clay and Nova to love

Nova's back in town after leaving when she and Clay fell apart. She still hasn't shared their secret connection and is convinced that working in the stadium won't be an issue. I love it when the H and /or h are completely naive, lol! Clay is still his grumpy self, which I loved, but he's mellowing a bit, realizing what he lost when he let Nova go. For her part, she's not jumping into his arms, at first. But as they make their way back to each other, in a better and stronger way, yet another roadblock pops up to stop them in their tracks. Yes, it's another cliffhanger, which is to be expected in a trilogy...one which I both can't wait to get to the end of and am also in no hurry to do so. Piper Lawson has created a story with great characters and an engaging plot that I have no doubt will end with a bang. It's not that long until August, when book three is set to be released. But it seems like to this reader.

SHOT TAKER by Piper Lawson Book Two in the King Of The Court Trilogy ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️/5 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️/5 Everyone has the fire, but the champions know when to ignite the spark. Amit Ray * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * “Just the thought of you gets me off,” I murmur. “I’m that hot for you, Pink.” 🏀What can be said about Piper Lawson, and her newest sports romance, Shot Taker? That this one was a three pointer from across the court? A slam dunk, holding on to the rim? Shot Taker was all that and a whole bunch more. . .Going into book two of the King Of The Court Trilogy I knew Lawson was going to stir something up at the very end of this book and like she always does, she waits till the very end to dive that cliffhanger all the way home. 🏀Nova and Clay didn’t have an easy go if it from the start but no fear Clay lays all his feelings out there in the open for Nova in this book and nothing could go wrong, it only goes up from here, right? WRONG. What’s a book without obstacles, broken hearts, and drama? It’s what makes a good book a great book! I for one can’t wait to see what Piper has in store for us next in her final installment of the King Of The Court trilogy, ‘Play Maker’. As an avid reader of hers I know she will give us nothing but the best of the best for Clay and Nova’s happily ever after.

4.5 ⭐️ Shot Taker is book 2 of King of the Court This is book 2 of a trilogy and book one must be read first. I was so ready for more of Clay and Nova and even though I knew it would end one a cliffhanger- I was not prepared for the ending and can’t wait for book 3 to hit my kindle! Piper Lawson is an exceptional storyteller and every book of hers I have read has captivated me and kept my interest throughout. I loved the way Nova stood up for herself, was determined, and ready to grow as an individual. I liked Clay in book 1 but goodness did I adore him in Shot Taker, the way to goes above and beyond for Nova stepping into new territory and making changes for the better, his character growth was heartwarming. If you are a fan of sports romance and grumpy sunshine trope I highly recommend this trilogy!

In media res… This is book two of a three book series and follows Clay and Nova. Did Clay work hard enough for a second chance? I think he definitely should have worked harder. Waiting for book three… 4.5

Shot Taker is the 2nd book in The King of the Court Series, and cannot be read as a standalone. Clay and Nova are back in this angsty, grumpy sunshine, second chance, age gap, love and basketball story. We pick up where the previous book Game Changer finished. Nova was broken hearted, Clay ended things. Little did she know he was trying to do what he thought was best for her. But, fate would put them on the same paths again. We follow them on this roller coaster ride of sadness, anger, hope, love and second chances. The instant magnetic chemistry, tension, love, banter is still present. The longing of wanting someone you can’t have. As Clay tries for a second chance we see him evolve as a person. He’s supportive, attentive, he’s grounded, more present with the team and his team mates, and loves Nova. As always, Piper throws a major dramatic plot twist that’s leaves you wanting more. The ending, ahhhhh. The book ends in a cliffhanger, but I CANNOT await to read Play Maker the 3rd and final book in the series. Great read
