Description

With 400 photos and a step-by-step plan, this puppy book visually guides you through socialization, potty training, and life skills while making the process fun.

Dr. Marty Becker; "America's Veterinarian" of Good Morning America, says, "This is like no other puppy book you've seen before.  It’s not just about teaching your puppy manners, it's a step-by-step recipe for bonding with your puppy, learning to communicate with him, and preparing you pup for life! With Dr. Yin's approach your puppy will learn more in a week than many dogs learn in a year!"

Victoria Stillwell from Animal Planet's "It's Me or the Dog" says, " This book is a must-have for any puppy parent or canine educator."

Dr. Johan Bradshaw, author of "Dog Sense" says, "This book is a comprehensive and humane guide to puppy behavior and training, incorporating a detailed guide on how to interpret your puppy's body language.  Worth buying for the socialization advice and checklist alone."

Dr. Ellen Lindell, veterinary behaviorist, states, "This well-organized book is filled with essential information about puppy development and learning. Experts and novices alike will appreciate the illustrations and analogies that turn science into a clear and enjoyable read. Most important, Dr. Yin offers a plan that incorporates critical socialization and training into a daily routine. It will be a puppy life-saver."

Nancy Abplanalp of "Thinking Dogs" says, "I own tons of dog training books and none of them are as much fun to read as this one. It's accurate and easy to access.  The puppy socialization chapters and checklist are especially well done. If you have a puppy, work with puppies, raise puppies, or just plain like puppies, get this book.

It’s not a real Apple Book, like most all you will find where it adapts to your screen size, allowing you to customize for dark mode, fonts, size, highlight text etc, rather this is simpy a leader boxed PDF. Hoped at least the content would be descent but is rather aweful. Based on the author’s title as a Doctor and DVM, MS added a sense of credence but she opens with information that would suggest she is not a good person to listen to on this topic, so assume the information was more gathered from general sources rather than her own life long knowledge. She is against all corrections as associates with hitting a baby even though unlike Primates, Canines mother’s always provide subtle and appropriate corrections to their pups. She seems confused with what an age appropriate correction means, and rather says she can’t imagine putting her puppy in a choke collar. Of course not, why would any one put a puppy who is starting fresh in one. Simply awful.

As a veterinarian this book clearly outlines the important life skills of socialization - accepting all the noises, situations, people, places and other animals that make up a life in a household. The learn to earn program gets the best manners the quickest. yes puppies take time. They are not just fun - if you follow this book you will have a great dog. Dr Sally J Footedrfoore

Horribly written…disjointed and full of information that is extraneous unrealistic to what you are trying to accomplish. Don’t buy it if you want to get to the point of training your dog.
  • Stupid title

This book is a total reject i mean even the title is wrong. A perfect puppy is one that is happy sweet loves you and is loved back so when you try to make a "perfect" puppy in a book that's like saying "I'm going to make these kids perfect in a month!" It's one thing to train a puppy but I'm 11 and I know what a perfect puppy is.The author is stupid for thinking anything else.
  • 4 stars if you work from home

This book is for those who can be at home all day with a puppy. Useless for those who work outside of the home.

Our new little teacup shichon is arriving on Friday! It was not an option to read this book...smart, sensible, doable and a must! We spoiled our last little dog so much- fine for back then, but in reading about how to do it again we will also do it better, kinder, as well as with happiness! and maybe we will keep our bed ours this time!!! Thanks so much Dr. Sofia Yin, for putting this out here...Lisa and John
