And what a ride this show is. Perfect audio quality and mix. Anytime Bob's guitar is audible gains my attention. Jerry and Bob are an underrated guitar playing duo. The weaving between the two during this show is fantastic.
Phil is killing it on bass. Just killing it. Perfect pitch.
Brent. Fare Thee Well. Was on fire this show.
I could care less if they forget a verse here or there. That's part of playing live and nobody plays live like the Dead.
Oh and it just so happens Branford Marsalis was there!!!! Bird Song, Eyes, Space!!!! Ask the crowd if this was a good show or a great show!!! Their opinion resonated throughout. Which hearing the crowd makes it all the more fun. I love soundboard recordings but you have to have the crowd to get the full experience.
This, Venetta, Barton Hall, Harper College, and Winterland round out my top 5.
So wake up to find out!!!!

I was at this performance. The sound system at the good old Nassau Coliseum staggered through the end of the first set and then crapped out. Bobby kept it cool as did the rest of the band and finished strong. Brent was solid and Branford icing on the cake. Quality show and sounds great

This is one of those seminal sets, like the famous Barton Hall show from 77 or my other personal favorite Meadowlands from April 87. I really dig how much the sax adds to the texture. The Dead straddled just about every musical genre, their extended solo breaks are jazz influenced, their songs range from rock to blues to americana. I always enjoy listening to shows with Brandford and Bruce Hornsby sit in on. This one has one amazing rendition of Eyes of the World and a wicked Dark Star rendition.

I’ve listened to all the shows from the Spring 1990 tour. i have one of the box sets and was able to burn a friend’s other box set, for a total of about 45 CD’s worth of music from that tour. I have to say that this particular show from 3/29/90 at Nassau Coliseum is far and away the best of the bunch, and not just because Branford Marsalis sat in on much of it. The whole show has a drive, focus and energy that surpasses the other shows on that tour. And Eyes of The World and Estimated Prophet are phenomenal. My favorite Dead era is still 1970 thru 1975, but this show is right up there too.

I really enjoy this show. Alot of different twists with Branford sitting in and adding color to the set. Makes a great listen whlie sitting on the deck watching the world go by.

1) I love the Dead and i saw that this was just put up for pre order today, as yesterday i came on and it wasn’t here yet. As many big Dead heads know, the Dead started to lose its touch around 1989. Mistakes were made during shows, Jerry didn’t have the same energy, my uncle told me Phil wasn’t smiling anymore. Since this show is from 1990, who knows what’ll come from it. The set list is pretty good, but the quality of the performance can be iffy. We will have to wait and see, i mean anything from the Dead is good lets admit that, I’m just saying it might not be the best. Ill go check out a fan taped copy of this show before the professional releases. Cant wait! (Early August 2014)
2) I stand completely corrected to what i said before. Before the release, i used others opinions to review an album… not cool. Yes, the Dead was on its way out in the 90s, but this particular show and the rest of the tour, is phenomenal. I enjoy it so so so much. The Eyes of the World on this, is the best one I know. I love the saxophone. @sniffy2007, thanks for your opinion. You were right. Its a great show. Now to spread the word! (September 11, 2014)

This particular show comes from the 1990 tour. The recording quality is great and all members are in great form. Jerry's voice is strong and seems present and engaged.
A special guest joins the band beginning with "Bird Song"; jazz great Branford Marsalis accompanies the band on saxophone. I believe that playing with Branford elevates and invigorates all members BUT if you are a new listener to the Dead this particular show might lead you astray to what the band was all about. With Branford this show puts a slightly 'smooth jazz' quality to everything (Lovelight being the only track with any real blues quality!). I personally prefer the Dead of '72 - '74 and '77 and probably won't pull this one out all that often.... Nevertheless I'm glad to have it available and wish I'd been able to attend more shows back in the day.
