Great blues disc with not a weak song, but the my favorite is a Conversation with Collins. Not only does the guitar do the talking, but Albert himself tells a great and funny story that should not be missed. One of my all time favorite songs of any genre.
  • High praise for Albert; heartfelt disdain for Apple

Remarkable release. Unfortunately, the songs were delivered to me by iTunes with weird gaps near the ends, followed by a few seconds from the next cut on the list. Not a pleasurable listening experience, but a most righteous performance by a brilliant blues musician.
  • Albert Collins is a Bad A**

Albert Collins may be one of the most underrated blues guitarists. In my opinion Collins is just as good a player as anyone that is out there or anyone that has ever played.

Blues for even the non-fan, "Ice Pickin'" rivals many classics of the genre from better-known artists stretching from B.B. King to Robert Cray. And none of them have ever sounded as funny as Albert when he relates the story of his wife's credit discovery in "Master Charge". Horns help balance the strong, lean guitar that rightfully dominates, and tracks like "Avalanche" are designed purely as a skills showcase, but Albert Collins doesn't come off a bit self-indulgent in this tight, fluent set. "Ice Pickin'" captures a pivotal studio moment as if it were a live performance, which is part of what extends the album's appeal beyond its core audience. Rock, pop, and soul enthusiasts have been groovin' to this one for decades, and it's easy to hear why it wins over new fans each time it resurfaces.

This was my first blues record I ever bought. Albert can tells a great story with his playing. "Ice Pickin" is solid all the way through, but my favorite track is "Honey Hush!"
