I adore this album and still have it on vinyl. I’ve been regularly looking for it on iTunes and today the dream came true!

I'm a total Barry Manilow aficionado, and when I came across this 1982 release of HERE COMES THE NIGHT, well it was a no-brainer to get these songs on my iPOD as fast as possible. There are the emotionally charged songs of loss; especially with the title song, HERE COMES THE NIGHT, and the catchy tune, GETTING OVER LOSING YOU. Does anyone sing these heart-wrenching stories better than Barry Manilow? And I love listening to every one of them. Additionally, there's a lovely rendition of STAY, a song that should have been a hit, but maybe didn't get the radio play back when - considering it was probably competing against other Manilow heavyweights. Maybe it was up against Barry's huge hit of MEMORY? Who wasn't bowled over by this one? Only Barry and Barbra Striesand had bona fide hits on MEMORY. Finally, don't miss the sleeper on this collection, I'M GONNA SIT RIGHT DOWN AND WRITE MYSELF A LETTER. Arranged in a "rockabilly" style...yes I said rockabilly style; but it's done so well. It only takes a few chords of this song to get your attention. It's a fun, light-hearted production that's genuine and may just persuade you to admit this is your number one listening favorite. All in all, HERE COMES THE NIGHT represents another great collection of songs from the master crooner of our generation.

Now, if only iTunes would carry “Barry”, my “memory could live again”. Sorry.

I can’t believe this is here. Barry’s foray into upbeat pop on the Arista label. This lp marks time a bit given it’s synth heavy upbeat pop arrangements and the 80’s Broadway anthem Du Jour “Memory” from the show that will not die, Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “Cats.” This cd contains the hit title track, “I Wanna Do It With You,” “Some Kind Of Friend,” and so many more. This cd was available as a rather expensive import but is now available here on iTunes. Download now!!
