This is the first Mountain Goats album that was properly produced. It is also the first album of theirs that I ever heard. It took a couple of listens for me to really get into it, but I grew to realize this album was awesome on a level that I had never experienced before. It's a concept album about an unhappy couple living in a poorly built house in Tallahassee, on Southwood Plantation Road. The house is both literal and a symbol of their marriage. The actual house falls apart just as their marriage does. It's entertaining, it's funny at times, it's intelligently written, it's diverse, it's everything great. The songs very in tempo and volume, which is good. Since it's a concept album, you have to get the whole album to fully appreciate it. You won't be disappointed though

I have to say, even though 30 people already said it, these are great lyrics. "No Children" is the absolute pinnacle of dysfunctional relationship songs. The vocal style is not beauti
