I have the RCA CD, which comes with an excellent booklet that I hope has been preserved in the latest edition. It provides a history of Glenn Miller - his beginnings, the formula that became his breakthrough success, his tragic loss at sea. But best of all is the album, itself -- a time capsule of Miller's recordings. No crystalline fidelity here, the recordings were too early for that. What you do get is the actual band playing these songs, songs that remain as towering icons on the American musical landscape. To hear "In The Mood," and to realize that this recording was made when the song was young, not having been covered umpteen zillion times, is an amazing thing -- the collection is nothing less than lightning captured in a bottle. Enjoy.
