This album is quite simply unbelievable. This was a very strong debut album when it came out and is actually still, in my opinion, their best one. They do an awesome version of Lionel Ritchie's "Stuck on You" and as well as a wonderful remake of Bread's "Everything I Own". "Never Let You Down" is a great love song done in an upbeat style. The songs all have a great ukulele or guitar sound that isn't heavy on trying to stand out. The best thing I can say about these guys is that they let the vocals carry the songs instead of trying to make a loud album where the music drowns out the vocals. Great voices + great music = one fantastic album.

Welcome to the World and the Music of Ekolu… Their debut CD, “Down In The Valley,” is the first of the many great CDs that follow from this fine group of talented and humble musicians from Maui. Their unique style from the Valley Island will move you musically and spiritually with a vibe that will encourage Ekolu fans to “sing along” all the way from Maui to Hawaii, and throughout the rest of the World. Ekolu is Hawaiian for three. Ekolu is also Lukela Keala, Shane “Akoni” Dellomes and Pupu Ho’opi’i. Three young men formed into one group. Deeply spiritual; they embody all that is wonderful about the "grass roots" style in Hawaiian Music. The title track, “Down In The Valley” is an original title composed by Lukela Keala. Lukela and Akoni each contribute two more compositions to the CD as well as covering well known classic renditions of Lionel Ritchie's "Stuck On You" and Freddie Fender's "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights;" all are fresh and out of the box. Ekolu embraces their music tightly, but they embrace their friendship even tighter with respect and honor to God. They describe their music and friendship as “it started out as fun but lead to something more. Experiences like no other, music sets their mind free. Just like a bond of a brother, a friendship of eternity.” Come and join Ekolu on their first CD, and take a musical journey “Down In The Valley,” of Maui, Hawaii and beyond! Aloha…
