In 1.984 I missed out on seeing Toto perform in concert at the James L Knight PerformingArts Center in Downtown Miami It would have been a thrill to go backstage and get an autograph from the drummer Jeff Porcaro but I couldn't win any tickets what a disappointment that was for me So all I have are cassettes Cd's and a music video and performances on VHS video He is without a doubt one of the best rock drummers of all time And oh by the way I finally have the last album that featured his superb drumming Kingdom of Desire which will be downloaded to my I pod very soon as my sister is not too busy with her medical transcription Oops forgot to mention Now that I have a IPad I will be able to add some music videos of Toto Rosanna Africa Holyanna and many more as soon as possible when i log on to I tunes store RIP Jeff Porcaro in my dreams you can play drums on my heartstrings oops also forgot to mention that I had a picture of him with his drums on my bedroom wall at my old house in Chicago Illinois oops again forgot to mention that i missed seeing him in person at a music convention held inChicago 's Mcormick Place down by the lakefront that's all
  • hmm...unlike the cynical iTunes reviewer

I am not nearly as cynical as the author of the iTunes album review for this and other Toto albums. I don't think writing off studio musicians is wise, Some of the best artists on the plant are studio musicians. Some chose to stay in the studio, others move to the spotlight. That these gentlemen are verstile is something to be lauded rather than criticized or diminished. How many artists nowadays exhibit such strong chops? Hmmm? To me, this album was like a breath of fesh air in an era where rock was struggling to find its identity and disco was everywhere, like it or not. In this era, Bobby Kimball's voice was distinctive. The musicianship is stellar. I appreciate that Toto came onto the scene and has endured and continued to improve to this day.
  • The greatest debut album ever

Ok, debut with an asterisk since they were basically a group while backing the great Boz Skaggs during the tour to promote his "silk degrees" album (his masterpiece which was co-written by Mr. David Paich). Every song a winner and the versatility of the musicians is on full display. Not to mention its show case song, "hold the line", just might be the greatest pop/rock single EVER!

I was 15 when it was given to me - listening to hard rock and some pop - and then a door of creative music flew wide open for me when I heard this. There is more substance to the music on this album than most musicians will ever accomplish in a lifetime.

This is an amazing debut album. What makes the album great is that there is really no weak track on it. Yes, some are better than others, but all of them are worth listening to. Highlights of this album include popular singles "Hold The Line" and "I'll Supply the Love," as well as album tracks "Manuela Run," "Takin' It Back" and "Angela." The album is worth buying as a whole, but if you are not up to it, those are the songs worth purchasing alone, in my opinion.
