Reviews

  • Great talent, Bad Over-production

If you listen to their covers on YouTube, with just the two of them and an instrument each, you can hear the rare combination of power and sweetness in their voices and the talent in their hearts and hands. Unfortunately, the over-production on this album and the ones before it bury all their ability under layers of bright and trebly studio garishness, and the mediocrity of a generic backing band. Their influences are from hootennanys, honky tonks, and rock clubs, but the production makes them sound noisy and sterile, like they were recorded in different times and places and mixed together with a lot of processing effects. The mix replaces real passion with a grating harshness. As it turns out, the band self-produces, so I think they would benefit from an outside producer who has a feel for the music and can bring out a more authentic sound.

Blood Harmony is an awesome album! Lips as Cold as Diamonds is a roots n blues song delivered w smooth vocals by Rebecca and the unique, soulful sound of Slide Queen Megan. The sisters blend up magic and do not disappoint 🖤

Really diggin this entire bluesy, rockin’ album. Usually I skip over a song or two when listening to an album, but not this time; I hit ‘play’ and listen straight through. Great guitar licks by both Megan and Rebecca, and their signature tight vocal harmonies make this album a pleasure to listen to. Might be their best album yet!!

Outstanding album by great musicians. I’ve been following since I heard their cover of “Black Betty,” and it’s clear that those old blues covers are beginning to mature into stronger originals. 🔥

Love these two. Such talented musicians…from the swampy, Deep Stays Down, to Rebecca’s vocal prowess on Might As Well Be Me, it hits on all cylinders. And Meghan’s slide…without a doubt, one of the best players out there. Her intonation is spot on and such a compliment to the vocal harmonies. Yes, and they are even better live, imagine that! Brava ladies….well done!

This album shows an immense amount of growth, especially in the song writing. These new songs are layered and sophisticated. I love their early songs, but this is heads and tails above songs like Trouble in Mind. Again, I love the early stuff, but this is beyond.
