In my opinion, this is simply one of Beyonce’s best bodies of work! I really enjoy how she encapsulates many different African cultures and artists. Unfortunately there are ignorant and arrogant people who don’t understand the overall concept, focus, and storytelling of the album, to appreciate or enjoy the album. I think narrow minded people should really broaden their perspective overall on music and entertainment outside what they are comfortable with, instead of tearing down others. I think Beyonce did a wonderful job on this album!

You might call me crazy for saying this but I looked through the comments and I saw many people claiming “oh why doesn’t the songs in here match the movie” or “it only words because its Beyoncé” etc. i’m pretty sure the album isn’t supposed to reflect on the movie “the lion king” 100% this is clearly supposed to show her appreciation to African/Black Culture in her music there’s no reason to make up an excuse about “oh well the songs don’t match at all “ that’s the point it’s not supposed to match but that’s just my opinion.
  • Elton John is the composer

Elton John did the music for the Lion King. Watching them parade Beyoncé around like it is her work makes me sick. Just no.
  • Awesome Album!

I love every song on this album. I truly appreciate her creativity. You have to be rooted to understand the lyrics. Another great one for the books. May GOD continue to bless you to make more good music for the culture.

So! The title may be misleading, but it’s important to understand that the title is the inspiration, and the result is The Gift. Artist like Prince, Elton John and Phil Collins have done the exact same album concept; music inspired by a movie. I really like the music, and I appreciate B helping to introduce West African music and sound to the American musical lexicon. The album is really good, from start to finish the album flows very well. The album also is tied to the movie Black is King on Disney+. The movie makes the album even more vivid and a worthy listen. If you don’t like the album, you just don’t get the “sound” she’s going for here. It’s a great album. Give it a listen.
