Guitar Perfection

If I were to describe the album with one word, it would be intimate. The microphone is so close to Luiz Bonfa's guitar you can occasionally hear him breathe. This album has a very stripped feel, yet the minimal amount of instruments, up close recording, and minimal studio editing make for some of the most tranquil songs I have ever heard. There's a good mix of melancholy (Manha de Carnaval, Perdido Amor) and relaxation (Quebra Mar, Sambolero). Some songs are even surprisingly tense and chaotic, notably the eerie"Murder" and constantly changing "A Brazilian in New York". It's incredible how much emotion can be packed with a guitar.
