Description

New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery returns to Blackberry Island with the poignant tale of two sisters on the verge of claiming their dreams.

Small-town nurse Nina Wentworth has made a career out of being a caretaker. More "Mom" than their mother ever was, she sacrificed medical school—and her first love—so her sister could break free. Which is why she isn’t exactly thrilled to see Averil back on Blackberry Island, especially when Nina’s life has suddenly become…complicated.

Nina unexpectedly finds herself juggling two men—her high school sweetheart and a younger maverick pilot who also wants to claim her heart. But as fun as all this romance is, Nina has real life to deal with. Averil doesn’t seem to want the great guy she’s married to, and doesn’t seem to be making headway writing her first book; their mom is living life just as recklessly as she always has; and Nina’s starting to realize that the control she once had is slipping out of her fingers. Her hopes of getting off the island seem to be stretching further away…until her mother makes a discovery that could change everything forever.

But before Nina and Averil can reach for the stars, they have to decide what they want. Will Averil stay? Will Nina leave? And what about the men who claim to love them? Does love heal, or will finding their happy ending mean giving up all they’ve ever wanted?

  • Another great one from Susan Mallery!

This is the story of Nina Wentworth and her crazy family. Nina's mom, Bonnie, bothered me the most with her carefree, I DON'T HAVE ANY RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE EVERYONE TAKES CARE OF ME, attitude. She's the one responsible for Nina's need to take care of everyone. Nina's been caring for her mother and sister, Averil, since she was 11 years old. Crazy! Thank God for Bertie, who's Bonnie's lover/partner, and is always trying to get Bonnie to lose the Peter Pan syndrome. Outside of all the family drama, Nina is a very lucky woman. Kyle, Navy fighter pilot, and Dylan, doctor extraordinaire, both want her. WOW! That's a very hard choice for any woman to make. This story is so well written. There's so much going on but it's woven together so well that it just flows the entire length of the book. Characters are introduced and grew perfectly with the story. I read this book in one sitting because I couldn't tear myself away from this wonderful little place called Blackberry Island. I'm so excited to see what's next from Susan Mallery. Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
  • Susan Mallery does it again!

Susan Mallery does it once again in this final book in the Blackberry Island trilogy. I loved the characters and could definitely see myself and others in them. I was at once cheering for my favorites while wanting to smack others, crying one minute and laughing the next. I'm sure many will be examining their own lives and dreams once they put this one down. Although, plan on a while, because once you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down. The love triangle really worked for me in this book, as I loved the duality of the younger man (thrills) or the love from her past (dependable). Nina has put her life on hold for over a decade. Now it's her turn. And boy, does she take it! While I'm disappointed to see this trilogy come to an end, I was excited to get a glimpse of Mischief Bay and can't wait for next year's travels to this new area.
