There is a lot of unnecessary descriptive detail that honestly rambles to the point of losing track of the story line. Take that out and you have a great short story.

Love the character and story line. The only thing is… what bothered me was the continuous reference to her scar (!) and her deceased twin - almost every chapter! Really??

The story line wasn’t too bad except most of the book was about the Vermont weather and Lexi’s dead sister. I don’t think you need to be reminded every other paragraph that she has an unsolved death in the family.

The story was good, writing poetic. But the redundancy just added length to the tome.

Honestly, if I read about Lexi’s scar one more time I think I’m going to puke! Seriously that is my only gripe of this well written story by Ava! Well done!!!
Weak storyline

There was so little depth to this police procedural, so repetitive as the author repeating the same thoughts from the protagonist so many times. Not a very believable story.
Good, but could be better.

I really thought this book was going to delve more into the story of how she got her scar, or what happened to her sister. Those two things, as well as a few other related things to those plot points, were mentioned what felt like every other page, which got to be annoying.
It was a good read if you can look past that, had cheesy one liners that you expect from a book like this, an interesting way of jumping between the cops and killers point of view, and a pretty good story.
Over all, not the worst way to spend a couple days, but there was also room for improvement.

Good plot. I think the language is sophisticated but sometimes off or the overuse of words like cacophony and macabre. The wording can make parts confusing which takes away from the story.
