Description

An Apple Books Classic edition.

What would happen if you let your darkness out? Are you certain you’d be able to rein it back in? When Dr. Jekyll turned toward the dark side, he was convinced he could turn back at will, while his friends assumed he’d fallen under the influence of the criminal Mr. Hyde. But the good doctor—and all his acquaintances—were very, very wrong. Can Dr. Jekyll escape the clutches of Mr. Hyde before it’s too late?

Set in the London society of the 1880s, Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novella is a masterful tale of suspense and psychological intrigue. The story plays to primal fears like losing control of ourselves and discovering that a person we trusted is actually someone—or something—else entirely: a monster. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a must-read for anyone who loves mysteries and crime fiction.

It’s definitely old. Big problem: SPOILER WARNING By the end of the book Jekyll is not held accountable for his actions and given a free redemption pass by death and pitied. It’s treated as everything in the story that happens is not his fault even though it clearly is.

This book was so good; it was spooky but at the same time an allegory about our human nature: good intentions vs bad! Definitely recommend!

This is a real page-turner. I could’ve easily finished in hours but was so pleased & intrigued that I forced myself to savor it over a few days. In addition to its eloquent scripting, this work is full of mysterious parables that force you to ponder the makings of man, goodness, and evil. Those who don’t enjoy it seem to lack the comprehensive ability to interpret its brilliance.

Can be a bit of a tough read as it was clearly written a long long, LONG time ago. So it can get confusing with the speech. However, if you can power through it, it’s a decent read.
