So much validation in a single book. It’s as if she wrote this specifically for me and it’s saying to me “you weren’t crazy for asking for what you needed”

Before I read this book, I’ve always felt like I was a passenger to my own life, and someone else was driving the car. A people pleaser in every sense of the word. Saying yes to everything my past girlfriends wanted, not wanting to disappoint family with certain decisions, or even wanting to be accepted by people who weren’t even benefiting me. I now see the importance of speaking up about what you’re comfortable and not comfortable doing. The proper boundaries are how you establish the relationships that are true and beneficial for you, because if someone doesn’t respect your boundaries, you don’t need a relationship with them to begin with. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has anxiety or depression also.

This book provided me with a lot of clarity about feelings of guilt when saying no to people. Also, that it’s okay to set and repeat your boundaries with people. This is the “two things can be true” rule everyone is talking about for me. However, you need to make one thing clear to people. Loved this book beyond words.
