The “page-turning, exhilarating” (PopSugar) and “heartfelt thriller” (Real Simple) about a woman who thinks she’s found the love of her life—until he disappears.

Before Owen Michaels disappears, he smuggles a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers—Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother.

As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered, as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss, as a US marshal and federal agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was. And that Bailey just may hold the key to figuring out Owen’s true identity—and why he really disappeared.

Hannah and Bailey set out to discover the truth. But as they start putting together the pieces of Owen’s past, they soon realize they’re also building a new future—one neither of them could have anticipated.

With its breakneck pacing, dizzying plot twists, and evocative family drama, The Last Thing He Told Me is a “page-turning, exhilarating, and unforgettable” (PopSugar) suspense novel.

I felt pretty indifferent about all the characters in this book. The only thing that compelled me to keep reading was that I kept hoping for something to happen that would improve the story.
  • Fun, sweet read, kind of improbable story

I really liked this book and was invested in what was happening. The relationships were sweet and interesting. There were some unanswered questions about what was happening that feel like plot holes if you think about them too hard, but if you just enjoy the book for what it is, it’s a good read!

This story had me on the edge of my seat. I loved the methodical progression. The more the story unfolded, the more I asked myself, how will this end? A beautiful ending that sums up so many great themes used in this novel. Highly recommend!

Definitely a page turner for sure! It’s pretty graphic in some parts of the book and the end is definitely not something you’ll expect.
  • A fun read

This book was a fun entertaining novel I would say mostly about a step mother’s relationship with her step daughter as they try to navigate a complicated event. It’s emotional but not too gut wrenching that you have to pause and cry. I would suggest it to anyone who wants to have a moment to escape :)
  • So boring and unbelievable

Predictable and boring. The 16 year old is so annoying. Hard to believe anyone would do what she did. A lot if weird descriptions.
