She is a fraud

I’m late to the Rachel Hollis train (because Irish twins) but all I’ve got to say is that every woman should read this book. This is one of the best self improvement books I’ve read.

Not a good book. Gave it 2 stars cause she seems like an okay lady. But, the book is just written badly I think.

Her privilege is a bit too dramatic for me. I felt worse and worse as I listened to the audiobook about who she was. Her insights when read by women who have faced similar levels of adversity - may be excellent. For those of us who are not abled, who live marginally in the world, who have lived below the poverty line, and therefore have a highly likelihood to have faced more chronic and adverse trauma….this book will hurt to read. For a lot of reasons. It will feel out of touch. It will make you angry. It will make shamed simultaneously - when you logically know it’s that she is out of touch. And it may make you feel less than. Which somehow makes the valuable insights peppered in feel like someone else’s words that she’s recycling in her own words. Feels like someone who read a lot of self development and has a lot of confidence and went for it, which is admirable. But she’s probably going to make a lot of people who have experienced trauma outside of what mainstream America would call a “normal” amount…feel worse for it. Read some Brene Browne, Nedra Tawwab, Glennon Doyle….don’t go down this road. There are plenty of better roads to go down.

This book was everything that I hoped it would be. I bought it roughly two years ago and just decided to read it. It was a real eye opener. I haven’t ready a book in twelve years. I will be reading all of her books!

Best book I’ve ever read in my life! Thank you Rachel Hollis for sharing this little piece of you with the world and for your many many words of wisdom. You are truly a God send to all women! If you’re on the fence about getting this book, GET THE BOOK!

Overall liked the book. I think I would’ve liked it better if I was a Christian mom. Not really my vibe and that’s okay. Overall great messages.
