Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “Driving, wild and hilarious” (The Washington Post), here is the incredible “memoir” of the legendary actor, gambler, raconteur, and Saturday Night Live veteran.

When Norm Macdonald, one of the greatest stand-up comics of all time, was approached to write a celebrity memoir, he flatly refused, calling the genre “one step below instruction manuals.” Norm then promptly took a two-year hiatus from stand-up comedy to live on a farm in northern Canada. When he emerged he had under his arm a manuscript, a genre-smashing book about comedy, tragedy, love, loss, war, and redemption. When asked if this was the celebrity memoir, Norm replied, “Call it anything you damn like.”

Not the greatest book, I wish Norm had shared more truth but it’s Norm so I forgive him. RIP.

Whoever wrote this book for Norm Macdonald should be very proud of himself. It certainly isn't a memoir; that became obvious about two-thirds of the way through. But it just seemed crazy enough to be true. Thinking it was comic non-fiction, I was fooled into reading it, as I don't like novels. This one became an exception -- to almost everything. I eagerly await his next book, whatever form it pretends to take, and whoever writes it for him.

That essentially sums it up. Comedy masterpiece combined with unique style only possible by Norm. Although it has been said before, Norm is a true satirist and the modern day Mark Twain

This book completely sucked. And before I explain why, let me start by saying I think Norm Macdonald is hilarious. I was really excited to read about his career. Unfortunately, this book is a complete fantasy and fabrication. I'm not sure if a single sentence was accurate. I don't understand why he'd write this. He literally didn't reveal anything about himself other than his complete self loathing. He's a comic genius. I really wanted to hear how he did it. This book was a complete fail. I want my money back, Macdonald!!!
